Precise movement, real-world benefits

Mat Pilates is floor-based and uses your own bodyweight, sometimes with a band or a ball. That simplicity is the point — everything you learn here, you can do at home on a towel without any equipment.

What makes our classes different is who’s teaching them. Body Balance Works is a physiotherapy clinic first, so your instructor is a clinician or APPI-trained practitioner who has spent years working out why backs hurt. If something flares, you get a modification and an explanation, not “push through it.”

Beginners learn the foundations properly. Anyone managing a long-standing back, neck or hip problem gets exercises chosen around that history and progressed as they improve.

Pilates classes in Wellesbourne FAQs

What is APPI Pilates?

APPI stands for the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. It’s a method developed specifically for clinical populations — people managing pain, injury or long-term conditions — rather than studio Pilates adapted after the fact. All our classes are taught to that standard.

Should I start with mat or reformer Pilates?

Mat is where most people should begin. It teaches the foundations — breathing, alignment, control — that make everything else land properly, including reformer work. That said, if you’re working around an injury, the reformer’s support can sometimes make it the easier starting point. We’ll advise once we’ve seen you move.

I've got a bad back. Is Pilates safe for me?

It’s one of the main reasons people come to us. Because we’re a physiotherapy clinic, you’re assessed before you start and the exercises are chosen around your diagnosis. If a movement isn’t right for you, you’ll be given an alternative and told why.

Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?

No. Flexibility is something Pilates builds, not something it requires. Classes run beginner to intermediate with clear regressions, so you work at your own level rather than chasing the person next to you.

What should I bring to a class?

Comfortable clothing you can move in, and a mat if you have one — we have spares if not. Bare feet or grip socks are both fine. Everything else is provided.

Can I do Pilates during pregnancy or after having a baby?

Often yes, with the right modifications. Speak to us first so we can check where you are in your pregnancy or recovery, and please get clearance from your midwife or GP postnatally before you start.

Where are you based?

The Oaks, Walton Road, Wellesbourne, Warwick, CV35 9JB, with free parking on site. We see clients from across south Warwickshire including Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Kineton and Shipston.
